The Sea

Those eyes that are the sea.
Deep and near and distant.
Gray. Green. Blue.
Wild and waiting for the sun.
Relentless showers sprinkle down
with both rage and elegance.
Brokenness and dignity.
Pouring. Racing. Falling rain.
down
down
down.
All that can't be held another moment
In those eyes.
Those eyes that are the sea.

Sunshine

A survivor. Walkin' down the same old street.
Till lightning raced and thunder drummed.
The day came through the backdoor.
The sky fell and so did his heart.
Crashin' down till carried away.

'Cause her name was Sunshine.
Eatin' ice cream in the rain.
A lil bit o' crazy in her eyes.
Runnin' mad. Laughin' wild.
Always turnin' up the music.
She was Sunshine.

They rode the carousel 'round town.
Belting songs like they knew the words.
She acted like the curtain would never fall.
His world turned right-side-up
With this love like there ain't no yesterday.

'Cause her name was Sunshine.
Eatin' ice cream in the rain.
A lil bit o' crazy in her eyes.
Runnin' mad. Laughin' wild.
Always turnin' up music.
She was Sunshine.
